Hello, my name is Jonathan Piña, and I’ve created this campaign on behalf of my beloved sister, Alexandria, and her husband, Mario Barba, as they face an incredibly challenging time. I never imagined I’d be writing this, but here we are, hoping to rally support for them in any way possible.

Her Story

At just 27 years old, my sister Alexandria was diagnosed with stage two triple-negative breast cancer, a rare and aggressive form of the disease. Over the past year, she has bravely faced 16 rounds of chemotherapy, numerous immunotherapy sessions, a double mastectomy, and extensive radiation treatments for both her chest and brain. In March, we had a brief moment of relief when she was declared cancer-free, but in May, everything changed. A sudden seizure led to the discovery that the cancer had spread to her brain, bringing with it a devastating stage four, metastatic diagnosis.

Since then, Alexandria has undergone additional radiation for her brain and chest, but the cancer has continued to spread to her spine and into her cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), a progression that her doctors have deemed terminal. In late October, Alexandria underwent a successful ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt surgery. However, post-operative scans revealed multiple lesions in her spine, and with no further treatment options available, doctors have given her a prognosis of six months to live.

She is now preparing to return home on hospice care to spend her remaining time surrounded by loved ones, focusing on finding small moments of peace and joy. Throughout this battle, my sister has shown unshakable courage and resilience. Despite her young age, she’s had to confront challenges that no one should ever face. Her husband, our family, and I are committed to making her remaining time as comfortable and meaningful as possible.

Why We Need Your Support

My sister’s medical needs and end-of-life care come with expenses that are beyond what our family can manage alone. With no life insurance or significant assets to lean on, we are asking for help from our friends, community, and all who may feel moved by her story.

Your donations will help us cover:
Medical and Hospice Care: Ensuring she has access to the care and comfort she needs.
Basic Living Expenses: Relieving financial stress from her husband as he supports her during this difficult time.
End-of-Life Arrangements: Allowing us to fulfill her final wishes with dignity.

How You Can Help

Any amount, big or small, will make a meaningful difference. Even if you can’t contribute financially, sharing this campaign would mean the world to us. We are incredibly grateful for any support, thoughts, and prayers during this time. Our family is holding on to every precious moment with her, and your kindness and generosity make that possible. While her pain and suffering will come to an end, her story will live on. Thank you for being a part of her journey.
