Help Alexandra Lopez fight anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

We are reaching out today with heavy hearts and a humble request for your support, your prayers, and your hope for our brave little girl, Alexandra Lopez, age 8.

Alexandra has been hospitalized since July 5th, when she suddenly began experiencing unexplained seizures. Since then, she has endured countless tests and medical interventions. After weeks of uncertainty and frightening neurological symptoms including memory loss, speech difficulty, confusion, and loss of basic motor skills her doctors diagnosed her with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, a rare and serious autoimmune disease where the immune system mistakenly attacks the brain.

Despite everything her care team has tried, Alexandra’s condition has not improved. Because autoimmune diseases are difficult to treat especially when the trigger is unknown her doctors and parents have now turned to an aggressive intervention called plasmapheresis (a dialysis-like treatment) in hopes of slowing the autoimmune attack on her brain. While there is hope for full recovery, the path forward is long, uncertain, emotionally exhausting, and incredibly costly.

Her family is doing everything possible to support her, but the financial burden of extended hospital stays, intensive treatments, rehabilitation therapy, medications, and anticipated long-term care is growing heavier by the day.

That’s why we are asking for your help. Any amount you can give, no matter how small will make a difference in Alexandra’s journey. And if you’re unable to donate, we would be deeply grateful if you could share this campaign with others who might be willing and able to help.

Alexandra is so much more than her diagnosis. She’s the middle sister of the Lopez trio: Emilia (almost 13), Alexandra (8), and Sofia (7). Together, they are each other’s greatest joy and strength.

Alex is our rainbow, a beam of color, courage, and heart. She’s the kind of child who checks in on others with a gentle, “Are you okay?” and truly means it. She’s bold, thoughtful, and speaks her mind with an honesty that’s both refreshing and wise beyond her years. She is, without a doubt, the “nap queen” known for her ability to fall asleep anywhere, anytime, since she was a toddler.

Her quirky sense of humor, fearless directness, and warm spirit light up every room she enters. She finds joy in singing and dancing, and somehow makes the people around her feel lighter just by being near. Her laughter is infectious, her love is deep, and her presence is unforgettable.

Now, she needs us to be there for her the way she’s always been there for others.

Let’s come together as a community and give Alexandra a fighting chance at recovery, a chance to heal, to sing and dance again, to laugh loudly, nap randomly, and continue being the bold, bright spirit we all know and love so deeply.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your prayers, your kindness, your generosity, and for walking beside us in this fight.
