Help Alexandra Walk Again and Escape a Life of Pain

Quick update: I thank all people who contributed already and will contribute to our cause. My wife has been admitted for treatment in a hospital in Spain. We are now raising money for what we hope to be the best chance we have to a normal life.

Hi,

My name is Radu, and I’m raising funds for my wife, Alexandra, a strong and beautiful 31-year-old woman who has been bedridden for nearly a year due to a rare illness and devastating complications.

We live in Romania, where medical resources are limited. Alexandra is living with a rare condition called Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF). For over a decade, she was treated with high-dose corticosteroids (Medrol) because nothing else was available. This treatment has slowly destroyed her body.

She now suffers from:

• Cataracts and glaucoma

• Severe muscle loss from Cushing syndrome

• Osteoporosis and high blood pressure

• Chronic pain and fatigue

• Hair loss and fragile skin

• Loss of 10 teeth

• And, most painfully—the loss of her mobility and independence

She also has stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis, chronic conditions that cause constant internal pain and hormonal chaos. A previous surgery made things worse.

Last year, her body collapsed from anemia and exhaustion. She developed a bone-deep wound in her knee, and due to her weakened muscles, she became completely unable to walk or stand. I now care for her full-time—feeding, bathing, carrying her, and supporting her physically and emotionally.

Just as her knee wound began healing, another extremely painful wound opened under her breast due to undiagnosed vitamin C deficiency and skin fragility. Again, we’re facing the same expensive and difficult treatment process.

We are completely on our own—her family has walked away. It’s just the two of us, and I am doing everything I can. But we’re running out of strength, and out of money.

We’re raising funds to help Alexandra:

• Access critical wound care supplies and treatment protocols

• Enter a medical facility for rehabilitation and recovery

• Continue the new treatment (Ilaris) that may reduce or eliminate steroid use

• Rebuild her strength, immune system, and mobility

• Afford medications, creams, supplements, and support devices to ease her pain

Despite everything, Alexandra still dreams of recovery. Of walking again. Of going outside without help. Of having a future.
