Hi, my name is Alexander, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and deep humility.
On August 4th, 2025, I was in a serious motorcycle accident that left me with multiple fractures — both hips and my pelvis. I’ve been in the hospital since the accident and will be facing a long road to recovery. Doctors estimate it will take 4 to 6 months before I can walk again, and during that time, I’ll be in a wheelchair and unable to return to work.
While I am receiving disability from my primary job, it only covers 60% of my normal income. I also worked a second job that helped make ends meet, but unfortunately, that income is completely lost and not eligible for disability support. I’ve always worked hard — putting in 80 hours a week — and I’ve taken pride in being able to fully support myself and my dog, Maggie.
Maggie is my 5.5-year-old pitbull and truly my entire world. Just a month before the accident, we moved into a new home — a place I was excited to build a future in. Now, I'm facing the heartbreaking reality that without help, I may not be able to keep our home. I worry constantly about what will happen to Maggie if I lose it.
Even after cutting every expense I can, I’ve realized I won’t be able to make it through the next few months on my reduced income. On top of that, I need to install a wheelchair ramp and some accessibility modifications in my home to safely return once I’m discharged.
This is incredibly difficult to ask, but I’m turning to the community for help during this unexpected and overwhelming time. Any support — whether it’s $5 or just sharing this page — would make a world of difference. Every bit will go toward:
Covering essential living expenses during recovery
Keeping me and Maggie in our home
Installing wheelchair-accessible equipment for when I return.
Any medical bills that I have not received or accounted for.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your kindness and generosity mean more than I can ever express.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Alexander Waltjen
