Help Alexander Derek King
Donation protected
We found out today my almost 17 year old nephew has Stage 2 Lymphoma cancer. He will have to travel back and forth to Oschners for treatment, and is in need of assistance with the unexpected transportation requirement this brings. The immediate need is mainly in the form of gas donations, for now, not sure if they will have additional request in the future.
Alexander “Alex” King just started his senior year today at D’iberville High School, he will turn 17 at the end of this month, his birthday is August 30th. His mom waited until he got out of school today to share the news and she and his amazing paw paw drove him over to New Orleans tonight.
Backstory: My sister randomly noticed some bumps on his neck and brought him to the doctor. She was advised to take him to a pediatric doctor. There they discovered he had a large amount of fluid around his heart and was advised to take him to Oschners. There he was then seen by a specialist for additional testing, turned out to be 12 bumps on one side and 6 on the other, for a total of 18 affected nodes on his neck and back. This Monday he had a biopsy done at Oschners, results lead to cancer diagnosis today. They will be doing another scan in the morning and will possibly put a port for chemo treatments in in the morning (if I understood correctly) and they will monitor the fluid around his heart.
Alex is scared for what’s to come and mostly sad that his senior year is starting out this way, he was excited about early release and this school year with his close friends.
