Hi! I'm Alex, and in about a month and a half, I will be moving into a new apartment. Without going into a lot of details, this is a move that will be very needed for me both financially - as I'll be moving into a 1 bedroom apartment that is significantly cheaper than my current 2 bedroom apartment - and emotionally.
However, the past few years - while they're beginning to stabilize - have been pretty financially rough, and I haven't been able to save much money. Moving is also expensive, especially when you don't have a car or a driver's license.
I found the apartment I'm most likely moving into and the application is in its final stages now. I also have a couple friends who have offered to help me move. However, because of availability in May, I'm going to be moving in April meaning that there will be one month where I will be paying rent on both my old place and the new place. I'm raising money for this move in particular to cover:
- Hiring a couple movers on TaskRabbit, particularly who have a truck, in order to make the move smoother
- Cover the extra cost of rent in April
- Buy a few new furniture pieces to replace pieces that are falling apart or being left behind in the move
