On the day before Thanksgiving, 20-year-old Alex Nason, a junior at Curry College and a passionate runner, fell and suffered a devastating blunt-force-trauma injury to his abdomen. He has been hospitalized in Boston since then.
Following the accident, Alex has undergone a great many medical procedures and treatments. Though he is making progress and showing glimpses of his winning smile, he remains in constant pain. He is unable to walk normally or eat, and relies on tubes and IV’s for his nutrition. Alex has a long and difficult road to recovery ahead of him, and this is why we are asking for your help.
This crisis couldn't have come at a more challenging time for Alex's family. The severity of his injury requires that he have a family member as an advocate at his bedside around the clock. Nate, his devoted stepfather, is just finishing his first round of cancer treatments at Dana Farber Cancer Center. Laurie, Alex's mom, a speech and language pathologist, is missing work to be with him. Together, Lauren and Nate divide their time between Alex's care, Nate's appointments, and supporting Alex's younger brother Logan,a senior at Oliver Ames HS at home in Easton.
Those who know Alex understand he's far more than an athlete.... Brilliant, compassionate, and hard-working. His job at Marathon Sports helps to pay his tuition and keep him in sneakers on the Curry College Cross Country Team as he pursues his Communications degree. He's an enthusiastic member of the Fooligans Improv Troupe, serves as director of the news department at the Curry College campus radio station and shares his eclectic music taste there as a DJ. His many accomplishments on and off campus highlight his natural leadership abilities and dedication to his community.
We have launched this campaign to garner all the love and support possible so Alex can continue his recovery with the financial and emotional resources so crucial to his progress. The fund will ensure his tuition continues to be paid and will cover uninsured medical expenses for therapies and treatments as they arise, which they are certain to do.
We would be so grateful for any support you can dedicate to Alex's recovery. Please also send him your prayers and good vibes, and feel welcome to share this campaign with your own communities. Thank you!
