I’m reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to ask for help for a dear friend and colleague, Alex Zavala.
For nearly 8 years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Alex. He is one of the most hard-working, dedicated, and humble people I know. But for the past seven months, Alex’s life—and the lives of his wife and three young children—has been turned upside down.
Alex traveled to El Salvador seven months ago to finalize his Green Card process. He did everything the right way: he worked with an attorney for years, submitted every document, and received conditional approval. He was told the final step at the embassy in San Salvador would take 6 to 8 weeks. Based on that timeline, Alex saved his vacation days and put away extra funds to ensure his family was taken care of while he was gone. He expected to be home months ago.
Instead of two months, it has been seven. Alex has been stuck in a loop of administrative delays, submitting and resubmitting the same paperwork while waiting for a final signature. Meanwhile, he has missed birthdays, holidays, and the daily lives of his three children. Alex is the primary provider for his family. Because he is stuck abroad, he cannot work, and the "safety net" he built has officially run out. With a mortgage, utility bills, and the costs of raising three kids, his wife is facing the impossible task of keeping their home afloat on her own while Alex is thousands of miles away. They have built a beautiful life together, and we cannot let them lose their home because of a bureaucratic delay beyond their control.
We are raising funds to help the Zavala family cover. Any amount—no matter how small—will go directly to Alex’s wife to keep the family stable until Alex is back in her arms and back at work. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this link with your network. Let’s show Alex and his family that they aren't in this fight alone.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
