Around midnight on Tuesday, June 10th, an electrical fire spontaneously ignited in our car while it was parked in our attached garage, completely melting the engine and totaling it. The smoke that filled our garage and billowed in from the doorway also ruined the majority of my stored materials, tools and inventory for my art studio and the LARP I help run.
Alex and I, along with our cats Scrunch and Peppa, were exposed to heavy electrical smoke but are thankfully otherwise unharmed. We don’t know how much our babies ended up inhaling, but we are keeping them comfortable and monitoring them until we can afford to get them into their vet.
The loss of our only vehicle, the majority of my art materials and inventory, and the ensuing deductibles, veterinarian visits, cleaning bills, and cost of a new car have left Alex and I paralyzed as we don’t really see a way we’ll be able to cover these potentially massive and unexpected expenses without asking for help. I don’t think we’ll ever be able to express how grateful we would be and how much it would matter to us for any assistance during this time, even if it’s just to spread this around.
Thank you for taking the time to read, donate, and/or share. Make sure to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you when and while you have the chance.
With Love,
Alex, Stephen, Scrunch, and Peppa.
