Help Alex stand and walk on his own again

Last night my family got one of the worst calls… My brother had been struck by a truck, put on ventilation and was being flown to Fargo, ND as they are the only place to perform the surgery in ND.

As Alex was crossing a road, a truck struck him at a high speed which then launched his body into a ditch. He was rushed to the nearest hospital where it was initially said he had a fractured pelvis, dislocated hip and concussion. Since his arrival to Fargo, MRI and CT scans show that his pelvis is shattered, hip dislocated, bladder ruptured, swelling around the brain but not bleeding and an enlarged spleen. His spleen is being closely monitored as there is potential of a rupture within the next 48 hours if swelling does not go down.

Alex has been in and out of surgery all morning as they try to repair his injuries. His vitals are stable and still on a ventilator but able to communicate with a white board.

It is going to be a long, painful road to recovery with months of bed rest and physical therapy to be able to walk again. Alex is very adventurous and active so this will be one of the hardest obstacles he will face. He is one of the toughest people I know and he will fight as hard as he can to overcome this obstacle.

I’m hoping to raise some money for Alex to help with recovery finances. He will not be able to work for quite some time (1 year hopefully).
