Help Alex Stabilize After Health Crisis

Alex’s life changed completely in April 2021, when she headed to the Emergency Room after experiencing symptoms of jaundice and feeling unwell. The hospital was concerned right away and the labs they immediately ran indicated that her liver and kidneys were failing and emergency surgery was necessary to remove her gallbladder.  

After surgery, Alex continued to have a multitude of dangerous symptoms that the doctors were initially unable to figure out. After endless labs, scans, ultrasounds, a biopsy, and multiple long hospital stays- Alex has been diagnosed with lupus, autoimmune hepatitis of her liver, and most recently primary sclerosing cholangitis. These illnesses will be life-long and require consistent and intense care, treatment, and observation.

While Alex is undeniably strong and resilient, I am asking that we all pull together to help support her and her 4 children through such a scary and devastating time in her life. Alex has been told she should not be working until she is stabilized and the physicians are able to get a better idea of what kind of care and treatment she is going to need.

Alex is exhausted, overwhelmed, and doing her best to keep up with her medical needs and her daily life supporting her children and providing for them. Paying bills and having the money to keep up with medical costs is an anxiety she doesn’t need on top of trying to care for her kids and manage her heath.

Any and all donations are much appreciated to help with the mounting medical debt that comes with serious, chronic health conditions and trying to keep up with other financial necessities that continue even when being told someone cannot work.
