Help Alex & Shayla Bank Stem Cells
Donation protected
As most of you know, Shayla and Alex will welcome the newest addition to their family, a baby girl due November 16th. We are all very excited and anxious to meet her! What most of their friends and family do not know is that Alex was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. AML is a blood cancer that starts in the bone marrow and can quickly move into your blood or spread to other parts of your body. As a family, they are learning firsthand the struggles that come with chronic illness, yet there are also so many medical advances that give us hope. Stem cells from newborn cord blood & tissue are currently used in the treatment of over 80 diseases, including acute myeloid leukemia.
Banking their daughter's cord blood would mean that they would have stem cells in reserve for the possible treatment of Alex or a family member's illness. The standard cost for Cord Blood + Cord Tissue banking is $2,945 and $350 a year for storage. Any amount raised above our goal will be applied directly to their yearly storage fees.
We kindly ask that you share their story, and for those who are able to contribute to this fund, no amount is too small. If you are unable to donate at this time, all positive thoughts and prayers for their my family would be appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support.
