Hello, and good day.
My name is Alex, and on 30 May, 2026, I fled the United States to escape an increasingly hostile political environment; on account of my status as a transsexual man, being autistic and mentally ill, and having anti-American political beliefs, I did not feel safe anywhere in the US, and have not been protected from the furthest-reaching legislation in spite of the promises of "sanctuary" in my resident state. Rather than risk my freedom and life protesting the current administration and fighting for an oppressive empire whose cultural ideology I do not believe in, I have instead come to Canada in the hopes of building a safer, more secure future here.
However, I'm not out of the woods just yet: aside from the long and complicated process of applying for asylum and preparing for an uphill legal battle, I find myself in a pinch in regards to money and housing. While I have found refuge in an indigent shelter, it is not a long-term solution, and as I have not received financial aid or a work permit yet, there is no way to replenish my funds. If I can't find a place to rent or access transitional housing, I fear I'll either end up on the streets, which puts me at risk of theft or assault, or be forced to give up and return home.
Therefore, I am requesting your contribution towards a pool of emergency funds – starter money if you will – to help me get through my first few months in Canada until I've secured a steady source of income. It will help me afford food, toiletries, transportation and rent, relieving the pressure while I continue my asylum process.
In the meantime, I thank you greatly for your kindness and generosity in helping me through this new chapter of my life.
NOTE: funds will be donated to my US bank account, as I have not linked my TD Bank card yet and am unable to alter the fundraiser's location/currency
