We’re reaching out to you on behalf of our son, and Norman and Carolyn’s grandson, Alex Rehm. Over the last four years, Alex’s health has steadily deteriorated. He now has a very serious form of autoimmune Crohn’s disease, which can be life-threatening due to potential organ failure. He also has Parkinson’s disease and related dementia due to ammonia swelling from liver failure that he suffered in December of 2024.
Alex is self-employed and only able to work intermittently. He is currently in California, at one of the only two hospitals in the country capable of addressing his complex medical needs. Both of his major medical conditions are related to Long Covid that he contracted in 2021. We are trying to move him back east where his family resides and can better support him. The primary objective is to get him in to see specialists at Johns Hopkins that specifically deal with these conditions. Our goal is to get him into remission so that he has some hope of an independent life. He is only 41.
Any donations from GoFundMe will be used to defray the medical expenses associated with the specialists he needs to work with, prescriptions, as well as travel and living expenses. The expenses we’ve incurred and are facing are enormous – any amount at all will help us. Thank you for your support in giving Alex hope for an independent life.
