I made this gofundme in hopes in an effort to help my friend Alex. 4 years ago at the age of 39 Alex suffered multiple strokes. A loving husband and father of 3, everything that made up this awesome man was lost. During his surgery to save his life, Alex flatlined for several minutes. After the surgery he was placed in an induced coma so that the swelling of his brain would go down with the hope his body would begin to heal. After waking, he spent six months in the hospital. He awakened to his parents at his bedside praying for him to pull through. These past 4 years have been a constant fight to regain his ability to speak, to walk, and try to become even partially the man he was. His resilience has inspired everyone who knows him.
Despite his progress, Alex's challenges have continued. He is currently wheelchair bound, still working hard to regain his ability to walk. The surgeries also affected his ability to speak, and he is still striving to recover his speech. After his release from the hospital, Alex was in a car accident on the way to physical therapy that broke his arm, and shortly after, he broke his ankle on some stairs. Through all of this, Alex's wife was forced to return to work to support their family, and with no family nearby, Alex is left without the daily help he needs. He now requires a caregiver to assist with physical therapy appointments, meal preparation, and to serve as a motivating presence during his ongoing recovery. These services are essential for Alex to continue making progress and to maintain his quality of life.
God kept Alex with us for a reason. He has a long road to recovery, but with your support, Alex can continue his journey and regain more independence. Over this past year, I have seen Alex make substantial physical progress. Please help him continue on this road and prevent any setbacks due to lack of funding. Thank you for taking the time to visit Alex's GoFundMe. Any help you can provide will make a meaningful difference in his life and help him carry out the purpose he was given a second chance to fulfill.
