As a mother, you don't ever want to get THAT phone call. On July 13th, my oldest son Alex was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident that left him with life altering injuries.
Shortly after being flown to Morristown Medical Trauma Center, Alex was rushed into surgery where the doctors made the heartbreaking decision to amputate part of Alex’s left leg as it was deemed necessary to save his life. He also suffered several other painful injuries such as a broken shoulder and arm, partially collapsed lung, a broken upper leg needing a rod and a severed thumb needing reconstruction.
Alex’s road to recovery is long from over but he is keeping positive sprits that he will soon resume a normal life doing everything he loves again.
Aside from an unfathomable amount of physical and mental strain this accident has placed on Alex, there is also a financial strain for him and our family.
There are still several surgeries ahead for Alex. Then, once he is more stable, Alex will have to undergo rehab with physical therapy, multiple fittings for a well made prosthetic as well as continuing care and support. He is currently being told his hospital stay alone could be at minimum 1 month or more
To know Alex is to love Alex!!
He is ALWAYS willing to go out of his way to help anyone in need, doesn’t ask for anything in return and has a VERY big heart. He always puts everyone before himself and is a great source of comical entertainment to all around him. Everyone who knows him knows that Alex is a one of a kind, very special person, and those who know him as "Uncle Al" are very lucky! He is the happiest when he’s outside in the woods exploring a new trail, finding a new waterfall, doing his gearhead activities with friends, or even just enjoying the day at a car race.
Any donation that you can provide will help Alex immensely as he navigates through this new and scary world. Additionally, as with anyone, Alex will have major financial obligations that need to be met, and it is unclear how long it will be until he is able to return to work. He will need help to cover many expenses that insurance will not. We thank you so much for supporting Alex at this time.
