This fundraiser is the hardest message I’ve ever had to share. My best mate since school, Alex—one of the strongest, most quietly resilient people I’ve ever known- has been diagnosed with end stage throat cancer.
Alex received his diagnosis on the 23rd December 2024, he was rushed to start radiation and chemotherapy treatment in January 2025 and a RIG feeding tube to be inserted as Alex could no longer eat.
He had his last proper meal on Christmas Day - roast beef his favourite. Since then he has been unable to eat anything, relying solely on his feeding tube.
Doctors have told him that his prognosis is poor, he may have less than 12 months left. Any funds we can raise isn't just about money - its precious time. A donation could help make every moment count, with his beautiful wife Samara and their miracle son Ace at his side.
Ace is only four years old—far too young to understand what’s happening, other than that daddy is poorly. Before cancer Alex was diagnosed with huntington's disease, which meant 5 years of specialist IVF treatment in london to have a baby free of such a debilitating genetic condition. After multiple heart breaks, Ace was born -a gorgeous, cheeky, smiling symbol of his parents strength.
Alex's legacy is his son. He may not have much time left with him, but together with Samara they have broken the huntingtons cycle.
Ace will never suffer or witness it and that is his legacy, so Ace can go forward and live a long and happy life. Please help them to give Ace memories with his daddy they can all hold onto forever.
Any contribution could help pay for small day trips out, to see those beautiful lights and christmas decorations, or taking care of the costs that let them focus on being a family instead of worrying about bills.
I know life is hard financially for all of us at the moment, especially at this time of year but any contribution is so greatly appreciated.
Please share this message in as many ways as possible . Myself and others in our friendship group will be doing fundraising events / challenges to raise awareness and support for Alex, our best friend, an inspiration and a loving father and husband.
