UPDATE: Thank you for helping us recoup what we have paid out of pocket so far and to cover his immediate medications. We are leaving this fundraiser open right now, as additional treatment is required quickly to help resolve the issue and get Alex to safety. This includes seeing specialists, regular follow-up appointments, necessary further imaging to monitor his progress, and conducting further testing to determine the cause, and whether this is something he will be fighting for life or not.

Alex has experienced everyone’s worst nightmare: an unexpected medical emergency and no health insurance in force. In the midst of planning and executing on the details of the most major event for the Pima Democratic Party as executive director, he ignored symptoms that turned out to be life-threatening. He had developed 3 Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) in his calf and behind his knee.

He is lucky to have been treated in time, and now the healing begins. Not only will he likely be on a medication for life that will cost $800+ per month, but the hospital bills, which to date exceed $4,400.

Additional treatment is required to resolve the issue, including seeing specialists, obtaining imaging, and conducting further research to determine the cause. We are unsure what the future costs may be.

Never one to ask for help from others, always the giver, it is for that reason that we are stepping forward to ask others to help with this fundraiser. The road to healing is both physical and now financial.
