Dear Family, Friends, and Community,

On Saturday, March 23rd, our beloved Alex experienced a life-altering accident at her home construction site. After a heavy rain, she went to check on something on the top floor of the house, which was being rebuilt after the Woolsey fires. Tragically, she fell three stories, 35 feet, onto the ground below.

Miraculously, Alex survived the fall. She was rushed to Los Robles Hospital, where it was discovered that she had broken her femur, hip, pelvis in five places, nine ribs, shoulder, and badly fractured her elbow. Thankfully, there were no head or spinal injuries.

Due to the severity of her injuries, Alex was transferred to Cedars Hospital for specialized care. On March 30th, she underwent a seven-hour surgery to replace her hip and pelvis and repair her femur. After ten days, she had a second surgery to repair her shoulder and elbow.

Alex is now at a rehabilitation center in Santa Monica, where she will need extensive recovery and therapy for the next year. While insurance has been incredible with hospital coverage, it will only cover 20 days in the rehabilitation center. Alex will require one-on-one care and rehabilitation therapy with physical and occupational therapists for up to a year.

Throughout her life, Alex has always been there for others, constantly asking, "How can I help?" She has dedicated herself to serving her community, friends, and even strangers. Now, it is our turn to support her during this challenging time.

El sábado 23 de marzo, Alex sufrió un accidente que le cambió la vida. Después de una fuerte lluvia, fue a comprobar algo en el piso superior de la casa, que está siendo reconstruida después de los incendios de Woolsey, y trágicamente se resbaló desde el tercer piso,a 35 pies.

Milagrosamente, Alex sobrevivió a la caída. La llevaron de urgencia al Hospital Los Robles, donde descubrieron que se había roto el fémur, la cadera, la pelvis ,nueve costillas, el hombro y se había fracturado gravemente el codo. Afortunadamente, no presentaba lesiones ni en la cabeza ni en la columna vertebral.

Debido a la gravedad de las lesiones, Alex fue trasladada al hospital Cedars para recibir atención especializada. El 30 de marzo la operaron durante siete horas para sustituirle la cadera y la pelvis y repararle el fémur. A los diez días se le practicó una segunda intervención para repararle el hombro y el codo.

Alex , en estos momentos se encuentra en un centro de rehabilitación de Santa Mónica, para comenzar su recuperación que durará aproximadamente 1 año. Aunque el seguro ha cubierto las cirugias , sólo cubrirá 20 días en el centro de rehabilitación, pero Alex necesitará cuidados individuales y terapia de rehabilitación con fisioterapeutas y terapeutas ocupacionales por mucho más tiempo.

A lo largo de su vida, Alex siempre ha estado disponible para los demás, preguntándose constantemente: "¿Cómo puedo ayudar?". Se ha dedicado a servir a su comunidad, a sus amigos e incluso a desconocidos. Ahora nos toca a nosotros apoyarla en estos momentos difíciles.
