Alex Harken's Story:
On Saturday, February 6th, I woke up to a sore neck that I initially tried to attribute to sleeping awkwardly the night before. After spending most of the day on the couch, the pain had not subsided and when I walked past the bathroom mirror I noticed the left side of my neck was more swollen than the other. A trip to urgent care ended with me being referred to the ER and admitted to a hospital bed later that night. A series of scans and tests were ordered and on Tuesday, February 9th, my doctors confirmed with me: I have cancer.
Specifically, I have stage 3-C testicular cancer: non-seminoma, mixed germ cell tumor.
This GoFundMe is going to help with the unexpected expenses that have come from this diagnosis and I am incredibly grateful for each and every donation given.
