Hello, my name is Holly and I'd like to tell you about my daughter and son-in-law. We are using this GoFundMe to raise money to help them.

Alex was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver (NASH) about 5 years ago and is now in need of a liver transplant, specifically from a live liver transplant which requires a live donor. This last year alone, he has spent more time in the hospital than he has at home.

He is 34 years old, located in Altoona, PA, married for 9 years, with 3 children. He worked as a machinist after graduating college until he was involved in a car accident that devastated his body and his life. The accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. The damage to his body is what caused the cirrhosis in the long run.

Sadly, due to his illness progressing and other complications that come along with it, he has been unable to work for the last few years or do a lot of things with his family as he once did. The littlest of tasks wear him out so easily.

His wife, Cassie, has been the backbone of the family, ensuring that not only the kids are taken care of but Alex as well. She works tirelessly to raise the kids, meet Alex's medical needs, bring home a paycheck, and find a liver donor for Alex, all without complaints and while still finding time to be involved with her extended family. Two of their children are actually their niece and nephew that they took in because they needed a stable home environment and family. Four years ago, while dealing with the effects of finding out Alex's diagnosis, they still managed to take in Alex's cousin and her three children because they were homeless, giving them a place to live until they got back on their feet. They have never thought twice about helping other people even though they are struggling themselves.

Unfortunately, with all Alex and Cassie do for themselves, the cost of life is becoming overwhelming and they could use our help. They travel to Pittsburgh weekly and their car is on its last legs, constantly in and out of the mechanic's shop. The money we raise here will help them with a reliable vehicle, the cost of being in Pittsburgh, and taking care of their home. It will help ease a lot of the pressure they are under.
