Alex’s epilepsy has made life challenging for our family. We’ve seen firsthand how isolating it can be, and how important it is to have support. Recently, we were fortunate enough to have a dog donated to us, and now we’re hoping to give Alex the gift of a fully trained service dog. The specialized training is expensive, but it’s essential for the dog to learn seizure alert and response skills. Even if the dog can only provide seizure response, it would be a huge help in recognizing and reacting to Alex’s seizures.
Beyond the medical benefits, the companionship this dog could offer is immeasurable. Epilepsy can be extremely isolating, and having a service dog would mean Alex has a friend by her side every day. The emotional and spiritual support would be just as important as the practical help. We’re asking for your support to help us fund the training that will make this possible.
Alex’s epilepsy is a very difficult journey. The benefits of a service dog are not only practical and medical—a dog could provide a friendship that benefits Alex medically, emotionally, and spiritually. Any help you can give would mean the world to us.
