Hello, my name is Alex Acosta. I’m a Puerto Rican trans man born and raised in Florida. I have never been good at asking for help, but I really need it. Due to all the anti-trans legislation, I have been consumed with dread and scared for my life. I’m currently between jobs and need to take this opportunity to leave this state. I have been facing so many obstacles, including trying for months to update my documents (they have still not been updated due to these hoops I keep having to jump through).
I cannot continue dealing with the treatment I receive in Florida. I have already been the victim of malpractice and medical discrimination more than once, causing me extreme stress and pain. I have one ovary, and one kidney, and the effects of having to stop HRT would be detrimental to my health. I am not safe here.
I have been kicked out of my home, homeless, barely scraping by for many years of my life. While I have been able to find stable housing, pay my bills, and buy groceries, saving money for an escape has been impossible. And now that I am in between jobs, that goal is more out of reach than ever if I cannot get help.
Please consider donating to this survival fund so that I can raise enough money to relocate to a safer location. I am very depressed and in a constant state of stress - if I have to keep living in Florida, I am afraid of what will happen to me as a poor trans person of color.
I am a mixed media artist. My dream is to live safely so that I can continue expanding my art career and giving back to others who need it in the community. It’s all I’ve ever wanted.
I just want to live.
Please donate to this fund or share it if you can’t afford to.
