We are very embarrassed to ask for help for our only child, Alex Bradley (24 years old). Alex recently has been diagnosed with lung cancer (adenocarcinoma). After his biopsy and lung surgery, he has been going through twice-daily, proton-radiation treatments at Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute. His health insurance will not cover any of his costs for treatments.

Even though Sloan Kettering has reduced costs by 60% they still demand payment in advance for treatments, so, we as parents, have remortgaged our home and spent over $185,000.00, which is almost all of our funds, on surgery and treatments for our son. By no means are we well off. We have been hit with a tragedy that we have been trying to cope with and now need to ask for help because we have run out of resources trying to save our only son.

Although we are a very private family that never asks for help, we are at a critical point. He has reached the maximum radiation treatments so they are stopping for a few weeks. If we don't pay for treatment, which he terribly needs, they will stop treatments. Prior to starting a GoFundMe page, I asked many of my friends if they thought it would be rude or selfish to ask for help. We have never asked for help, but at this point, we do not know any way to turn.
