Help Me Avoid Eviction Amid Hardship

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alex. For the first time in my life, I'm facing the very real threat of eviction from my home, and I'm trying my best to fend off that threat. Recently, after being late on rent because I had no money, I was served a notice that eviction proceedings would begin if I didn't pay the amount of my overdue April 2025 rent. Thanks to an amazing community of people and this platform, I was able to deliver a check on the last day I had before that deadline, and May's rent was covered as well. Unfortunately, due to health issues and other circumstances beyond my control, I will need help for June and July. The thought of seeing another notice with the word "eviction" on it is terrifying. I don't have money. I have run out of other options. I need help. I need help to stay housed and survive.

My goal is to raise enough funds to cover rent for June and July. This would give me the chance to continue getting back on my feet. My rent is approximately $1300 a month, and with bank transfer fees, a total of $2700 would cover rent for both months. When I started this, we were able to raise $2800 for April and May. I'm forever grateful that I didn't lose my home when everything felt impossible, and I just need to keep it.

How did things get to this point? A lot happened. At the beginning of 2024, I was let go from my job after being on medical leave for a year. I have a lot of health problems that have popped up after having a heart attack nine years ago. I almost had another heart attack a year ago, right before I was let go from my job, but thanks to me feeling early warning signs, the blockage in my heart was caught in time. I have since been doing delivery gigs like DoorDash, but driving for hours puts too much strain on my body with my health issues. I am considered disabled, and I have a pending case for Social Security Disability. I won't know a decision on my case until the end of this year.

My spouse was also hospitalized two months ago and has been unable to work since then. During the course of April, we've been met with numerous obstacles in getting return-to-work paperwork signed, because no medical professional wants to touch it, and they all keep pointing fingers at the other. There is no income coming in now, and there probably won't be any income coming in for a while. Financially, 2024 and 2025 have been brutal. Between bills, my car breaking down several times, doctors visits, hospital stays, and periods of illness from COVID and the flu, all of my money is gone. I had to file for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy two years ago, so it's been difficult to get credit cards. The cards I do have are maxed out. I'm unable to get approved for any loans. Social programs for rental assistance in my area have no funding. I'm lucky enough to have SNAP for food, but that doesn't mean much without my apartment's roof over my head.

Any help would mean the world to me and be greatly appreciated. If you're unable to donate, please share this GoFundMe. Spreading it would be a great way to help. I have other bills to worry about, but rent is my primary concern. I can't lose the place I call home. If by some miracle I hit this goal, any additional donations beyond the goal will go directly to August's rent.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and help me.
