Words from Alex:
Important Health Update:
This past Wednesday, my latest visit to the cancer center revealed some grave news. The metastasized cancer in my lungs and liver has spread to other tissues in my abdomen and is growing faster than before. Despite recent attempts to stem its spread, my doctors informed us that my short term prognosis is very poor.
I will be starting on a new type of chemo on Monday. However, it is unlikely to be impactful and if that is indeed the case, I am expected to succumb to this disease in a matter of months. My doctors aren’t sure how many - or could be anywhere from a few months to maybe a year.
Obviously, we are devastated by this news. But we are planning to make the absolute most of my remaining time with family and friends.
We appreciate your thoughts, words, and actions to support us in these trying times. We will be finding various ways for me to leave lasting memories for the two little ones (and for mommy and daddy Jake as well) so that they will always know how vast and deep my love for them is and will be, even after I am gone.
And that love extends to each and every one of you as well. If you are reading this, know that you have had a positive impact on my life, and that you helped me become the person I am today.
I don’t know how long this last chapter of my story is going to last, but we are determined to make it a fun one.

This campaign has been set up in order to help Alex and his family make the most out of the time that is left. Specifically, we want to get them out to California to enjoy Disneyland and/or Universal Studios. The goal amount accounts for that trip, however, any extra will be used for possible trips to visit family as well as to make sure we do everything we can to give them peace, comfort, and joy.
