Help Us Survive Stage 4 Cancer, Medical Debt & a Family Crisis
Hi, my name is Alex Wright, and I’ve been diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer. I’m in the fight of my life—and my wife and I are doing everything we can to stay afloat—but we are overwhelmed. We’re reaching out for support to cover massive medical bills, an upcoming surgery, and now, an unexpected family crisis on top of it all.
---
Our Story
Even before cancer, life was already hard. I’ve been living with severe depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and PTSD for years. These mental health challenges made it difficult to maintain consistent work or build a financial safety net. My wife and I were doing our best, but we were already stretched thin when the cancer diagnosis hit.
Since then, I’ve been undergoing aggressive chemotherapy, with the goal of shrinking the tumors enough for a second major surgery. But the financial toll of this illness has been crushing—and things just keep getting harder.
---
A Devastating First Surgery
My first surgery had to be done at a hospital that was out of network because it was the only one with the Da Vinci robotic system—the technology my surgeon needed to safely perform the complex procedure. We had no other option.
That one surgery left us with a medical bill that was almost the cost of a small home. We were financially devastated before the next phase of treatment even began.

My Wife: The Caregiver, Worker, and Now... a Mother in Crisis
My wife has been doing everything—working exhausting overtime hours just to keep us going financially, while also being my full-time caregiver. She manages my medications, gets me to appointments, does every chore I can no longer do, and somehow also takes care of her elderly parents who rely on her almost constantly.
And now, we’re facing yet another emergency.
Her daughter—my stepdaughter—was just in a horrific ATV accident. She suffered multiple pelvic fractures and a broken clavicle, and she’s facing a long, painful recovery. We’re trying to help support her emotionally and financially as much as we can, but there’s just nothing left to give.
My wife is completely exhausted, physically and emotionally—but she’s still showing up for everyone, every day. I don’t know how she does it. I only know we need help.

Why We’re Asking for Help
We’re overwhelmed by:
The crushing medical debt from my first surgery
Ongoing chemotherapy and treatment costs
An upcoming surgery that we must prepare for
Everyday living expenses like rent, food, and transportation
Unexpected costs related to my stepdaughter’s accident and recovery
We are doing everything we can—but we are running out of resources, and out of strength. We’re humbly asking for your help to get through this storm.

How Your Donation Will Help
Your generosity will help us:
Pay down hospital bills from the out-of-network surgery
Cover upcoming cancer treatment and surgery expenses
Help with our stepdaughter’s recovery needs
Keep a roof over our heads and food on the table
Ease the burden on my wife so she can keep doing the impossible

If you’re able to donate, please know it will make a real and immediate impact. And if you can’t give right now, just sharing our story would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, caring, and standing by us during the hardest time of our lives.
With deep gratitude,
Alex & Kristen ❤️
