Our dear Alethea needs your help. While visiting Berlin last week to celebrate her 27th birthday, she became ill with pneumonia and her illness progressed rapidly - within days she suffered various further complications. Her condition remains critical and she is currently under heavy sedation on a ventilator in the ICU at Charite Hospital in Berlin, Germany.
Alethea's mother Sandra Holden flew to Germany as soon as possible to be by her daughter’s side.
Alethea is an avid traveler and adventurer. Her intelligence, curiosity, tenacity, sensitivity, strength, kindness, and compassion are felt by all who know her.
In addition to this incomprehensible situation, Alethea's insurance does not cover her expenses overseas. The cost of weeks of care and treatment in ICU in Berlin, along with the loss of wages and imminent cost of treatment in the states, is staggering. Medical expenses are the last thing Alethea and her family need to worry about at this time. It is never easy to ask for help, but nonetheless we are requesting assistance from our community to help ease the financial burden.
