Hi friends and family by now I’m sure you’ve all heard that back at the end of March I developed an infection in my right foot that forced Drs to amputate my leg just below the knee. At the same time I also had a wound on the bottom of my left foot which I have not been able to stand on or put any pressure on since then either. It was hoped it would be healed and the surgical wound be healed so I could get my new leg and learn to walk within the 100 covered days that Kaiser pays for. I was just about healed when I re-injured the wound on the left foot! Talk about devastating! As of next week I have two choices if I stay here I’d have to somehow come up with the money to pay for another month or so stay hoping I can get healed and have time to get my new leg made and start walking so I can go home. Go to a private board and care which likely will still cost more than my pension check won’t have physical therapy dept to help me walk. Either of these will force me to sell my house because I can’t pay monthly for both. I know it’s a lot to ask especially during these times my luck a pandemic going on, people unemployed. I understand.  I’m told by the Kaiser rep because of the high cost at most Bay Area board and cares I might have to be placed way out of the area away from family. I just need a month or so here and I would be able to go home.
