Hi everyone,
My name is Aleshia but my friends call me, Mona. I never thought I would be writing something like this. Recently, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and my life changed overnight. I’m still going through more tests and waiting on full answers, but I’ve already been told that I have two types of breast cancer; DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) and IDC (invasive ductal carcinoma). One hasn’t spread, but the other is more aggressive, and hearing that has been a lot to process.
I’m trying to stay strong, but the truth is… this is scary. Everything feels uncertain right now, and I’m just taking it one day at a time.
I’m a 34 year old mother of four boys. They are 17, 15, 12 & 4. My kids depend on me every single day. Being their mom is my whole world. Everything I do is for them and right now my biggest focus is staying strong and fighting this so I can continue to be here for them.
As I begin treatment, I will have to take time off work. Between doctor appointments, surgeries, and treatments like chemotherapy and or radiation, or both. Working consistently just won’t be possible for a while for I am a waitress full time at 2 different restaurants. I’ve always worked so hard to provide for my kids, so having to step back like this is one of the hardest parts for me. Bills don’t stop, but my income will for a few months.
I’m asking for help to cover basic living expenses like rent, utilities, groceries, childcare, and transportation to and from my medical appointments. This support would take a huge weight off my shoulders and allow me to focus on healing and being present for my kids instead of constantly worrying about how I’m going to make ends meet.
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced but I’m determined to fight. I’m holding onto faith, hope, and strength, even on the days when it feels overwhelming.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even just keep me and my sons in your thoughts and prayers, it truly means more than I can put into words. Every little bit helps, and I’m beyond grateful for any support.
Thank you for standing with me during this time.
**also if donating money isn’t your thing feel free to message me privately if you’d like to help donate things for my kids and I. Anything would help so much.
With love,
Aleshia #monastrong
