Recently, I shared the story of Alejandro Rodriguez and his second-place finish at the Huatulco World Cup Triathlon. He accomplished this on a bike without electronic shifting, no disc brakes, and wheels of a lesser quality than many high-performing age groupers use.

Most of his triathlon career, Alejandro, lovingly called Kenya for his love of running and admiration for the discipline he sees in Kenyan runners, has trained and competed on borrowed bikes. He showed up every week not knowing what he was going to have, but he KEPT SHOWING UP.

Over the past year and a half, he was able to secure a used frame, entry-level race components, and entry-level race wheels. He MADE a race bike with what he had and KEPT SHOWING UP.

A few weeks ago, on a used bike with entry-level everything that he made himself, he went against some of the best in the world, all with better equipment, and placed second. He posted the fastest run split, a 14:57 off the bike.

Many in his family are able to help, but we are not able to purchase the bike that he needs and deserves as an elite athlete seeking to compete for Olympic qualification. So we are asking for your help.
