Alejandra Vargas moved to the United States from Colombia three years ago with her 14-year-old daughter Valentina, hoping to build a better life. Recently, Alejandra received devastating news: she was diagnosed with a tumoral lesion in her spinal cord. The surgery she needs to survive isn’t available in Idaho, so she must travel to Utah for the procedure. With her diagnosis, Alejandra can no longer work, and the medical bills are piling up quickly.
