Help Alejandra Transform Education Globally

Hi, my name is Alejandra Carrasco , and I’m on a mission to make education accessible to every child, no matter where they live or how much their family can afford.
Growing up in Lima, Peru, my family faced significant financial struggles. But I never let those challenges define my future. When I was 13, I was lucky enough to receive a scholarship fromPeru Champs , an organization that supports talented students like me. This scholarship was my ticket to continue my education and ultimately inspired me to change the world.
As a high-school student, I co founded WAWA Laptop , the first eco-friendly laptop made in Peru. Designed to reduce the digital education divide, WAWA Laptop empowers students in rural and urban Peru by providing them with access to technology that is both affordable and sustainable. The journey of creating this company was not just about making an impact; it was about realizing the potential for technology to transform lives. By combining my experiences as a leader, my education at Dartmouth College, and my deep-rooted connection to my community, I brought together a solution that has already reached over 2,500 students.
My passion for education and desire to make a tangible difference have been shaped by my experiences in Peru, and my studies at Dartmouth College . I got into Dartmouth with a full-ride scholarship thanks to the King Scholars Program and I am part of the FYSEP community (Program for first-generation college students). At Dartmouth, I became an active member of college, serving in numerous roles that promote social equity and student empowerment. From being the co-director of the Latine and Caribbean Council to serving as a Student Government senator, I am truly committed to create systems that uplift underrepresented communities.
Why Harvard?
Now, I am ready to take my work to the next level after my 4-years of college. I’ve been accepted to Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education for the Master of Learning, Design, Innovation, and Technology program. This is the perfect opportunity to build on everything I’ve learned and bring my vision for educational change to a global scale.
At Harvard, I’ll have access to world-class resources like the Cheng Yu Tung Center’s Education Innovation Studio, the HIVE, and I-Lab. These will help me develop the WAWA School, an innovative high school model in rural Lima that integrates technology into education, empowering students to become leaders and change-makers.
Why I Need Your Help?
Attending Harvard is a dream come true, but as an international student from a low-income background, the financial burden is significant. That’s why I’m turning to you for support.
I’ve worked hard to fund my education, but I still need your help to make it all possible. Your donation will go directly toward covering my tuition, living expenses, and the resources I need to pursue my graduate studies and make the WAWA School a dream come true.
What is REALLY going on?
- Full year at HGSE is $102K
- Scholarship from Fin Aid was $23K (Maximum grant for international students)
- Currently applying to other fellowships and scholarships.
Every donation, no matter the size, will bring me one step closer to achieving my goal: providing equitable education for underserved communities worldwide.
THANK YOU!
By supporting me, you’re not just helping me achieve my dream of studying at Harvard. You’re also supporting my vision to transform education through technology. Your contribution will help me make a tangible impact in Peru and beyond, empowering the next generation of students to lead change and empower the future leaders of tomorrow.
I am incredibly grateful for your support, whether it’s through a donation or simply sharing my story. Together, we can create a brighter, more equitable future for students everywhere. Thank you for helping me get closer to this dream!
