My name is Aleishia, and for the last 2 1/2 years I have had the honor of caring for my dad as he battles dementia. When I first brought him into my home, he already had signs of cognitive impairment, and over time his condition has declined severely.
My father poured so much love, wisdom, and strength into me and my sisters throughout our life as well as my children and anyone who made contact with him. He was our biggest supporter, always uplifting us when no one else would. Because of the man he has always been, I felt it was only right to be there for him in his time of need. His final wishes were simple yet meaningful: to live somewhere warm and to be surrounded by his family/ grandchildren. We have done our best to fulfill that for him.
As a single mother of three, this journey has not been easy. I received minimal help from state agencies and with his diagnosis, it was nearly impossible to obtain life insurance for him. Caring for him became a full-time responsibility, and I was recently let go from my job because he needed me around the clock.
Our father has now passed away and we need assistance with putting his services together.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward ensuring our dad is cared for with dignity and love, just as he always cared for us. If you’re not able to give, a share of this page means the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us honor our dad’s final journey.
With gratitude,
Aleishia & Family
