Help Aleeya Before and Through Chemo

Donation protected
My family has recently been shocked with news that my 17 year old sister-in-law, Aleeya has been diagnosed with a very rare and highly aggressive form of ovarian cancer called Small Cell Carcinoma of the Ovary, Hypercalcemic Type (SCCOHT). This form of cancer makes up a tenth of a percent of all ovarian cancer with around 40 people diagnosed with it each year in the US, all of them being young women (the median age is ~24).

Because of the severity of her diagnosis, she will be undergoing egg preservation harvesting and aggressive chemotherapy. She has had and will continue to have numerous doctor appointments to discuss and plan for future fertility options, blood work, and preparation for chemotherapy. But before “the hard stuff starts”, we hope to help alleviate the large medical expenses our mom (Michelle) and dad (Andy) are encountering.

Here is a little about Aleeya and a short history as to how we arrived at this point:

Aleeya is 17 years old Senior at Wayland Union School; she is long time member of orchestra. She has aspirations to become a vet and possesses a strong love for animals, especially her cat Mittens. We would describe Aleeya as a peaceful and adventurous personality with a healthy dose of sassy mixed in. Those of us who are blessed to be a part of her circle truly love her. Her nicknames include Jellybean, LeeAH, and “Aunt LeeLee”. Aleeya is considered the “fun” aunt to our four boys, the older 2 are convinced that she is a “professional gamer” and are WOW'd by her skills every time they play together. Her favorite hobbies are playing video games with her friends and family (Apex, Minecraft, Ark, Fortnite). Playing her violin, drawing, riding quads, camping, fishing with dad, movie nights with her two older sisters, and hanging out with her best friend Macy. She is an avid music lover with a wide variety of musicians from all decades. Her favorites list includes a wide range of music. Somewhere over the rainbow by Isreal Kamakaiwo'ole, Michael Jackson, Shaggy, and big base hits are some of the top played.

On April 14th Aleeya went into the ER with severe abdominal pain. By the 15th she was admitted to the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. There the doctors discovered a tumor growing between her ovaries. On this most recent Good Friday, April 18th, she went into surgery and the doctors removed one of her ovaries, fallopian tube, and a tumor the size of a “cantaloupe”. This happened to also be the day her Senior Prom took place. She is set to walk to receive her diploma right before starting chemo.

Her doctors are planning on starting the chemotherapy the 27th of May.

If anyone is willing and able to help my family in this time of great need, there are simply not words that would express the level of sincere gratitude. Whether that is by financial means, simply passing along this message to others, or most importantly by praying for God to be glorified through the Davis family. We have a God that is so much bigger than any of this. I know that if He wants to bless us with more precious time with Aleeya on this side of glory, He can do that.

Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
