My significant other and I recently lost our apartment and nearly everything we owned in a devastating fire. In a matter of hours, we lost our home, furniture, clothing, personal belongings, household essentials, our cars, and much of what we had worked years to build. To make matters even more difficult, we are not receiving reimbursement through our renters insurance due to an issue with our policy that is currently being disputed. As a result, we are facing the overwhelming challenge of starting over from scratch without the financial support we thought we had in place. In addition to losing our belongings, our cats suffered smoke inhalation and are currently receiving emergency veterinary care, resulting in significant medical expenses during an already difficult time.
Our first priority is making sure our cats are ok and taken care of medically. We need to get new cars to be able to get to work and replace little things at a time so we can try and start a new life. We are seeking support to help cover temporary housing, basic necessities, replacing essential belongings, transportation costs, veterinary bills, and the many unexpected expenses that come with rebuilding our lives after such a devastating loss.
Asking for help is incredibly difficult, but we encourage people to donate and share our fundraiser. Any support—whether through a donation or simply sharing our story—means the world to us as we work to get back on our feet.
