I’m reaching out to ask for a little help on behalf of my son, his girlfriend, and their baby girl. Their sweet daughter spent 80 days in the NICU after being born 11 weeks early. During that time, Alea used all 12 weeks of her maternity leave sitting by her baby’s side in the hospital.

When it came time for their baby to finally come home, Alea faced an incredibly difficult choice: return to work immediately or take unpaid leave to spend the precious time every new mother deserves with her child. She chose to take that unpaid leave so she could focus on bonding and caring for their little one, but this has left their family with significant financial strain.
