SOMEONE ACCIDENTALLY DONATED 5,000 on Oct 3 2023 and it changed the amount i’m needing to raise - We’re trying to raise 3,000 more ! for a total of 9.000

Hi from Lisa and Albus, It's been a rough week here for Albus, and the unexpected has happened. I sit here with a heavy heart in tears as I write hoping it may reach those of you who can help.

Four days ago, Albus started showing signs of pain and discomfort. I spoke to my vet as I often do because he has had these little episodes from a young pup where he tenses up and yelps when you try and touch him. It usually only lasts a day or so and the Doctors always give him a little something for the inflammation.

I woke up this morning and it had progressed to Albus dragging his back leg, and within hours he lost all mobility in both hind legs and could no longer walk. I rushed him to the Animal Emergency Clinic who then transfered us to VCA animal hospital in Woodland Hills Ca. where they diagnosed him with slipped disk in his back. The positive side to his prognosis is that he still has feeling in his legs which means he's expected to make a full recovery with surgery. But it will require an invasive surgery to repair the slipped disk in his back. Never knowing I would find us in this predicament I was unaware that I'm required to have the full amount before they can operate with emergency surgeries. The full cost of his surgery, medications, treatment, and aftercare amount to almost $16,000.

I thought today I would be able to make a downpayment or qualify for the care credit loan of $16,000 and Albus would have his surgery. He would be home with me tonight relieved of some of his pain, sleeping and eating and smiling his usual happy dog smiles and recuperating and that everything would be OK. But that was not the case today.

Heart broken - I broke down in the lobby in shock. I was only approved for $5,000 and the pandemic depleted all of my savings. The Hospital wouldnt take him.. so we were told to go back home and reconvene. I brought Albus home confined to my room with directions to keep him quiet and still as not to add more pressure to his spinal cord to prevent more damage. At the moment he has bowel and urine incontinence; he cant urinate on his own and he can't lift his leg or crouch to go to the bathroom. he can only scoot and drag his legs behind him. I will have to watch over him for the next two weeks to ensure he doesn't try and drag or scoot his body around which could create even more trauma to his spinal cord. The meds they gave him are anti-inflammatory, a muscle relaxer and gabapentin for nerve pain. He's in really bad shape right now. I wish they would've sent me home with something stronger to ease his pain, as this is going to be a very long two weeks. I have a sling to hold his hind legs up to try and help him go to the bathroom, for now, this is all we have.

We are on a mission to find a way to raise the remaining $10,000 he needs for surgery. I'm creating this Go Fund Me for Albus, hoping that our story may reach my friends, family, my community and beyond.

The soonest surgery date I was given is April 12, 2022.
Thats 2 1/2 weeks from today and time is of the essence to raise the money in time

Albus is one of the greatest gifts Ive ever received the love of my life and I will do anything to save him and help him to live the long wonderful life he deserves.

I would be forever grateful for any help you are able to give during these trying times. and thank you so much for reading our story
Love ,Lisa & Albus
