As many of you are aware seven years ago our father had a stem cell transplant. The transplant was a success and has given us so much additional time and moments with our father that we will never forget. During that time, he has been able to see his seventh grandchild born, walk his youngest daughter down the aisle, through video see his 1st granddaughter graduate from high school, two more grandchildren get their driver’s license, watch his two youngest grandsons play football, go camping with his entire family and many more things that we all take for granted on most days. He has fought hard and with the unconditional love and dedication from our mother, his family and his medical team he has made it through so much during this time.
The last year has been a roller coaster ride for him and he has endured a lot from being diagnosed with the Norovirus which has wreaked havoc on his entire system to having multiple hydrations a week to protect his kidneys. You would never know that though as he is one of the humblest men we have ever known and never asks anyone for help. The last few months have been the hardest. Our mother has been taking him to appointments for hydration, blood work/transfusions, tests and follow up exams basically five days a week. Traveling to Bangor most weeks at least 3 times, which you all know is not a short trip for them and on the off days traveling to Medway. With some significant changes in his health and after being hospitalized in Bangor off and on over the last month for a week to two weeks at a time, he was transferred down to Boston last Thursday.
With this transfer to Boston, they are going to incur many expenses like lodging for our mother to stay close by as she is his support person and knows our father’s medical history inside and out, travel expenses for follow up appointments that are arranged for his recovery which would be weekly appointments traveling to Boston from Kingman. Any donation amount will help lessen the financial burden they are going to incur over the months ahead and will allow them to focus on his Road to Recovery
