Help Send Albert Manley to the United Nations
Albert Manley, a passionate advocate and public relations officer for the Single Leg Amputee Sports Association (SLASA) in Sierra Leone, has dedicated his life to helping those who’ve lost limbs—many during the brutal civil war—to rebuild their lives. SLASA empowers amputees through football, organic farming, and community development—offering hope, dignity, and a path to healing for those often forgotten.
Now, Albert has received a last minute invitation to speak on the global stage: the United Nations Conference on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, June 10–12 in New York City. This is a rare opportunity for the voices of Sierra Leone’s disabled community to be heard by world leaders—and for Albert to represent not just SLASA, but the thousands of amputees working to reclaim their futures.
The challenge? Sierra Leone’s government cannot cover his travel costs. We need to raise $2,500 urgently to cover Albert’s airfare and basic expenses. With the help of friends in New York, accommodation costs and travel have been greatly reduced in cost—but time is critical. Albert must leave by Sunday, June 8, which means funds must be secured by Thursday, June 5.
Your support can make this journey possible. If we exceed the target, any additional funds will go directly to support SLASA’s life-changing programs for amputee footballers and community reintegration.
Please stand with Albert. Let’s help him carry the stories, struggles, and strength of Sierra Leone’s disabled community to the global stage.
