My name is Albert, and asking for help is something I never thought I’d have to do. When I was six years old, I survived a 55-foot fall off a cliff, which left me with a drop foot. Decades later, at 50, I faced another life-changing challenge: doctors told me I needed to have my foot fused or risk losing my leg below the knee. I chose the surgery, but it’s left me unable to work, with a cast on my foot and months of recovery ahead.
I live alone and have always tried to be self-sufficient, but this situation has pushed me to my limits. I’ve gone through my savings, am living off one meal a day, and have fallen behind on my two credit cards. I can’t drive right now, and I have three more months of healing before I can return to my job at a youth rehab center. The funds I’m hoping to raise will help me cover rent, food, and the cost of my surgery while I recover. I live very simply, but right now, I’m struggling to make ends meet.
The last thing I want to do is ask for help, but I know that with your support, I can get through this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to me and help me get back on my feet—literally and figuratively. Thank you for reading my story and for considering a donation to help me heal and return to the work I love.
