Help Alaska Davenport and Family

Hi, my name is Karen and I’ve started this fundraiser to help my daughter, Jessica and husband, Jordan pay for their daughter, Alaska’s medical bills.

Alaska’s Story:

In June, my husband and I happily booked a first trip to Walt Disney World for Alaska and Xander, our grand babies. We thought it would be nice to take a family trip there to celebrate her first birthday and his first visit.

We arrived Sunday and went to Hollywood Studios on Monday. Alaska has had a cold for weeks, but at the park her mom noticed a fever. She was tired and uncomfortable and didn’t get to ride the rides or meet any characters. The next day she was having trouble breathing so her mom took her to urgent care. They diagnosed her with RSV which is life threatening to babies and a double ear infection. Jessica started the medication given and we hoped she would feel better soon. We were terrified to leave her alone and watched her carefully while she fitfully slept. That night she started screaming in pain and clenching her fists, so we took her to the ER. There she was also diagnosed with viral sepsis and hypoxemic respiratory failure. She had to be suctioned out to breathe and her oxygen was so low they put on a breathing tube. It took three of us to hold her still while they put in an IV for fluids. They tried to get her O2 levels up, but couldn’t so she was transferred to the ICU in the children’s hospital in Orlando. This is where she is now.

Her mom has been with her every minute. She is now also sick. Her dad is back and forth from our hotel because he is taking care of her three year old brother and is trying to keep them separated. Today is Thanksgiving and I’m so sad that our family won’t be together for the first time ever.

Xander has been such a good boy and loves his sister very much. He is patiently waiting to go to the Magic Kingdom, but we won’t be able to this trip.

We truly need your support! We hope and pray Alaska will be released from the hospital soon. These bills are a lot for a young family. Any amount will help.

Any money raised over what’s needed for the bills will be used to bring Alaska and Xander back to Walt Disney World so their family can in Xander’s words, “see the princess castle and meet Mickey Mouse”.
