Hi there, we are Alanna and Brandon. Alanna is a graduate student pursuing her PhD in Neuroscience, and Brandon is a retired disabled combat veteran. This month we've had some very unexpected breaks and failures in our home, and humbly request your help to cover the cost of these urgent repairs.

We had a hidden leak under our stairs earlier this month, which caused a significant amount of mold and water damage. After some back and forth with our insurance provider, they refused to cover the claim based on a technicality in the language of our policy. Which means that remediation and repairs now have to be covered out-of-pocket. The remediation company was amazing and tried to work with us on the cost, but it’s still an unexpected $2000 expense. We are currently trying to explore our options for the post-remediation repairs.

Now as of this past week, our water heater is malfunctioning AND our oven stopped working. Assuming all goes smoothly, the water heater repair will cost around $800. We are still trying to piece together what the oven repair, or worst case replacement, will cost.

Altogether we are facing $3-5000 in repair expenses, and unfortunately pulling from our meager home equity is an unrealistic option. Earlier this year, Alanna was abruptly unemployed for an extended period and we are still grappling with the debt accumulated during that time. With these new developments at home, we are in a very difficult spot financially and are now asking for your help to weather the storm.
