Help Alan to fight Aplastic Anemia
Donation protected
Hello Everyone
My name is Marzena and I'm asking for help for my 6 year old son, Alan.
Alan is bright, kind and sweet boy who loves school, outside activities, plays with brother Milan. He is a pupil of Scoil Mhuire agus Eoin and a member Brian Dillons GAA
In January, initially he was diagnosed with HSP ( Henoch-schönlein purpura).
This rare condition was only the symptoms of another underlying condition that we didn't know at that time. After a 13 days high fever in February a blood test showed that all type of blood cell count dropped to a life threatening low level. A couple of days later in Crumlin Children hospital in Dublin he was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia, which means that his bone marrow doesn't producing any stem cells. A Hickman line ( Freddy) was inserted in his chest and at the moment blood transfusion keep him alive.
My partner Tibor had to leave his job to be a full time carer of Alan.
Alan's first choice of treatment is a bone marrow transplant and his brave, 10 year old brother, Milan is currently checked if he could be a matching donor. Fingers crossed!
The bone marrow transplant is not available in Ireland currently, so this would be facilitated in a UK paediatric transplant centre. This treatment's duration is a minimum of 3 months, so likely the whole family needs to move to UK for this time. The medical treatment is covered by the HSE, however there are many other cost involved, including cost of travel and accommodation, but first of all the loss of earnings.
I'm lunching this fundraiser to help all associated cost of this long and painful journey.
Your support - whether through prayer, positive thoughts, share of this fundraiser or financial contribution - means the world to us.
We would like to thank you all of our friends, colleagues and employers who already showed an enormous support and offered their help.
And very special thanks to all doctors, nurses and medical staff in Crumin Children Hospital and CUH for their tremendous job to help Alan.
