Help Alan pay for his mother's COVID-19 expenses

A few weeks ago, Alan’s mother got COVID-19. After fighting for her life with the help of ventilators in an intensive care unit and then having an unexpected aneurysm, Mrs. Maria or “Tia Mari” as everyone would call her, passed away. Alan’s mom was the support of the entire family. She was the mother of four, and recently, she became a grandma. Everyone depended on her in one way or another. Thus, this was devastating for them.
As an international student, I can not explain enough how terrible it feels to see the people you love being vulnerable or in pain while being so far away from them. I witnessed how Alan’s mom supported him all along the application process to come to the US to study at the University of Rochester (And I promise that is not an easy task). She was always giving her full support and unconditional love to him and her family. She was truly an inspiration and one of the kindest people I have ever met. Plus, she used to bake the most incredible bread you can ever think of.
The pandemic and the economic crisis that the world is going through affected almost all the population including Alan’s family in Paraguay. The costs of the hospital, the medicine, and the procedures such as the intubation are incredibly expensive, which are a burden for Alan’s family, especially during these times. The donations will help his family by alleviating the financial weight that this crisis is causing to them.
As a global community we are all facing the toll that this pandemic has been taking on us. But if we could all help Alan’s family with this in these distressing times, that would mean the world to Alan and his family. Any amount would be more than helpful and highly appreciated.

Hace unas semanas, la mamá de Alan se enfermó de COVID-19. Luego de luchar por su vida con la ayuda de ventiladores en una unidad de cuidados intensivos y de tener un inesperado aneurisma, la Sra. María o “Tía Mari” como todos la llamaban, falleció. La mamá de Alan era el soporte principal de toda la familia. Era mamá de cuatro hijos y recientemente se convirtió en abuela. Todos dependían de ella de una forma u otra. Por ello, esto fue devastador para ellos.
Como estudiante internacional, no puedo explicar lo suficiente lo terrible que se siente ver a las personas que amas siendo vulnerables o sufriendo mientras están tan lejos de ellas. Fui testigo de cómo la mamá de Alan le apoyó durante todo el proceso de aplicación para venir a los Estados Unidos a estudiar en la Universidad de Rochester (y prometo que no es una tarea fácil). Ella siempre le brindó todo su apoyo y amor incondicional a él y a su familia. Ella fue realmente una inspiración y una de las personas más amables que ya conocí. Además, solía hacer el pan más increíble que puedan imaginar.
La pandemia y la crisis económica que está ocurriendo en el mundo afectó a casi toda la población, incluida la familia de Alan en Paraguay.
