Help Alaa and his family escape Gaza

My name is Pegah Athari and I live in Canada. I am creating this fundraiser for my friend- Alaa AbuZiater, resident of Gaza, and a Palestinian citizen. I am doing this for him and his family to help them get to a safe place before it is late.
Alaa currently lives in Gaza with his wife, his parents and his three kids. His kids are an 8 year old boy, a 2 year old girl and a 4 month old baby boy. The youngest one was born in November 2023 during the war.
Alaa has a PhD in biomedical engineering and was working as an assistant professor at The University of Palestine up until October 2023. He and his wife both studied and worked hard over the years and finally were able to buy their own apartment in early 2023 in Gaza. Once the conflict between Israel & Hamas started, Alaa’s apartment and his belongings were destroyed in a blast. The university where he worked was also destroyed and they lost their source of income.
They were also forced to flee their apartment and move to Rafah (South of Gaza strip).

In March 2024 now, Alaa and his wife, having no means to make an income for the past 6 months have been getting by with small savings they had. The situation in Gaza is deteriorating day by day, and Basic food and items are scarce and very expensive. Alaa has to queue up for 2-3 hours every day just to get some potable water for his family. They do not have access to the minimum medical care, baby-formula and their 4 months old baby hasn’t received any vaccinations yet.
Alaa & his family recently survived a terrible attack that happened on February 12 in Rafah. The number of attacks is increasing in Rafah and Alaa is desperately trying to evacuate from Palestine to a safe place. He has recently learned that he can cross the border into Egypt if he can cover the passage fees for him and his family.
The funds collected will help pay the following expense:
• CAD 50,000- passage fees to enter Egypt for Alaa, his wife, his parents and 3 kids.
This is the bare minimum they need for the moment being.
