Help Al Walk Again
Donation protected
Al has been battling with complications from diabetes for almost his entire life. He was first diagnosed at the age of four and has had an uphill battle ever since. This past year has been really hard on Al, and his complications started to get worse. Throughout most of 2020 he had countless doctor’s visits/routine check-ups to monitor the disease and how his body was holding up. Finally in January of 2021 he could not wait any longer. There was a bad infection in Al's right foot. With medication, a walking boot, and weekly doctor’s appointments he tried his best.
On January 27th Al was admitted to the hospital because the infection was spreading. Within a couple days the doctors gave him their best option which was to amputate the right foot. Since then Al has been in a rehabilitation facility learning how to do things that we take for granted like making your bed, cleaning dishes, and other everyday tasks. Throughout that process he has been fitted with a prosthetic foot to try to help him get back to a normal way of life. He has a long road ahead of him with learning to walk again. Two of his main goals are learning to walk and learning to drive again. Al is looking at having his car pedals adjusted so he can learn to drive with the opposite foot.
As Al goes through this stage in his life he is working hard at rehab to learn the basics that he needs. Now the medical expenses have started to come in and the bills are really starting to add up. These donations will go towards helping ease the burden he and his family already have on them. I am hoping through this fundraiser it can help give some peace of mind knowing that Al is supported and loved by many. This will allow him to focus on his rehabilitation and working towards his goals.
During this time please keep Al in your thoughts and prayers. We are all here to support him and help him through this rough time.
