Hello,
My name is Al Bennett and my wife is Amanda. A single knock on the door has changed our lives forever. Our home was consumed by the Marshall Fire, and if it wasn’t for that knock, it would’ve likely consumed us as well.
I was at home with my sons when we heard the knock from our neighbor Josh, a mountain rescue responder, telling us to evacuate immediately. We had no idea that it would be the last time we would see our home of 18 years and all of our belongings.
We watched the news and waited helplessly to hear what was destroyed in the fire. Eventually we found out that we lost everything. Every wedding picture. Every journal and love note. Every favorite dress and shirt. They’re now only in our memories.
I wish we would’ve known that it was the last time.
My wife supports our family as a dental hygienist. I am partially retired. I help my son run his Martial Arts school in town and volunteer in our community.
We don’t like asking for help. We are so grateful that we still have each other, our wonderful sons, and our beautiful dog Eloise. Our plans to retire have been delayed, but we're fortunate that we can continue working a little longer to help secure our future.
As many of you know, insurance has many gaps. Anything you can give, would help us rebuild our lives. Please, only give if you’re able to.
Thank you.
