Help Akweley Mazarae get a Hearing Aid

Hi friends and family,

My name is Akweley Mazarae; I’m a black trans disabled person. I hate to be in the position to do this, but I have an urgent ask! I have been trying to acquire hearing aids ever since I was notified of my moderate hearing loss last October. My hearing loss has severely impacted my quality of life, making it difficult to participate in my graduate courses, socialize, and general safety. My hearing aids appointment was pushed back 4 times as I awaited Department of Rehabilitation's (DOR) confirmation that they would cover payment. I was informed on 05/09/2025 that they would not be able to facilitate payment. I need to raise $3,000 by May 22nd, which is the cost of the copay with insurance. I cannot delay the appointment further as my school insurance will be ending and I would be responsible for the full cost of $5,800.

I would greatly appreciate anything that can be given towards this ask. I look forward to being able to fully participate in the classroom and social activities again.
