Help Akio Recover and Support His ER Bills

Over the past year, we’ve navigated countless vet visits, uncertainty, and mounting medical bills as we searched for answers to his health issues. When we finally learned he had chronic bronchitis, we were relieved to find a treatment that helped him feel better.
This year was a fresh start for us—we moved into a new home, excited for Akio to have more space to play and relax. He’s the sweetest, most loyal dog, always ready to cuddle, play fetch, and greet us after a long day.
Just yesterday, Akio was his happy self, but today he became very lethargic, struggled to breathe, and developed a severe high fever. He wouldn’t get up and didn’t come to greet us like he always does.
We rushed him to the emergency vet, where he was diagnosed with severe bronchial pneumonia and is now being hospitalized overnight for close monitoring. After everything we’ve already spent managing his health, the emergency costs are more than we can handle right now.
Jerred (my partner) is currently a full time respiratory therapy student, and I work full time while still managing a small business. We’re doing everything we can for Akio, but we need help.

We’re so happy to have Akio home. This has been one of the hardest weeks of our lives, and we’re incredibly thankful for every ounce of support we have recieved.
Although he’s home, his recovery is still a work in progress. He’s currently on antibiotics, inhaled medications, and other treatments while we closely monitor his recovery. He also has follow-up appointments ahead as we continue making sure he’s healing the way he should. Because of his chronic bronchitis, Akio will also need inhaled medication for the rest of his life to help manage his condition and his journey with chronic lung disease is something we’ll continue managing every day. We’re taking things one day at a time and celebrating every little win. Thank you all for being a part of his journey.
